Reconstruction of a Pagan gathering place. ( Masham , North Yorkshire )

The concept of this reconstruction in Masham, in my opinion, is great, and more should be built to allow our bairns the opportunity to see the real surroundings of their true Pagan ancestors, and not the concepts and ideas imposed on them via 'The History of Roman Propaganda'. Sites like this at one point existed all over Britain, but most are now scattered and unrecognisable to many. Although, lets not forget, from the North East of England to the North West of Scotland, there were outcrops of natural standing stones far more impressive than those made by man. The Dykes that run across the North would have had many exposed faces displaying a wall of Basalt, and in some cases Basaltic Andesite. The latter has magnetic anomalies, as I've reported many times during my research, and can naturally shine in both sunlight and moonlight, giving a possible explanation for the currently unexplained mystery of why the blue stones were transported such a distance to Stonehenge. Remember that one of the first of these stone structures is now widely accepted to have originated in the North, meaning they were more than likely spread from North to South, and not the other way around.

Celtic Civilisation began in Britain ?

For many years now we have been led to believe that Greece - Rome - Egypt were our cradles of Civilization , this is now being proved not to be so . New evidence now points to the likelihood that North west European civilizations were far more advanced in many ways .  There is growing evidence that civilization did not originate in the warm south eastern areas , and then spread north . but more likely the opposite !

The Nebra sky disk was discovered in northern Germany in June 2013 ,  and dated at 3016 years old this makes it the oldest astronomical record known . Add to that the fact that the materials it was made from originated in Britain , I think it tells its own story .

100.000 + PAGE VIEWS REACHED

Today after 7 years my blog passed 100.000 page views  , not bad for a specialised  subject focused on a 5 mile radius of Stainton Village .

Clevelands Malachite from the Stainton gravel beds

This piece is Malachite - pure copper ore .

Jasper from the Stainton gravel beds

I've now identified this piece as Jasper , the closest recorded occurrence I can find is in East Yorkshire , to the south of us with the Cleveland hills being a natural barrier from glacial transportation . As I've stated before I believe all of the well preserved mineral pieces ive found in the Stainton gravel beds , were transported to the area by man.

Triassic fossils found in Mercia mudstone

I believe I have found the fossils in the Mercia mudstone of Ancient Cleveland North East England .  I have recently collected several ripple and bed samples from the river Leven , and after cleaning Ime sure there are fossils in the samples .

The image above shows what I believe to be the fossil remains of a Triassic life form to the bottom left of the two reduction spots , the image zooms quite well .

Above close up of what I believe is a fossil in the Mercia mudstone of Cleveland .

Geological Surveys Boulder Clay . Still no sign of it in the South West of Ancient Cleveland !

The opening excavations at Hemlington , and yet again as in Yarm Thornaby , Coulby Newham the very same red clay as in the beck valleys , with no large stone content !

These excavations are 12 ft deep in places .

I have only ever noticed one constant in the superficial deposits of south west Cleveland , that is a definite relationship in colour with the red and blue Triassic Bed rock it sits above , although the superficial surface deposits are highly calcareous .

I have now viewed more new build sites between Redcar and Yarm with exactly the same findings , No Boulder Clay !

Clevelands Cervus Elephus Red deer antler excavated proberbly the largest in Britain .

This (Cervus Elephus) Red Deer Antler piece is almost certainly the largest  ever discovered in Great Britain . I excavated it as previously stated about 4 years ago at what I strongly believe to be a sacrificial site close to an outcrop of the Cleveland Dyke at Stainsby beck in ancient Cleveland .

In fact I believe it is the largest land found red deer antler excavated in the world ? I have repeatedly informed all relevant parties both local and further a field with no response ! ?   It has nine tines and is far thicker than anything found in the British isles and probably matches and is bigger and more robust than the very largest Elk of North America !

This 4000 year old piece found in sediment in Wales , was and is widely reported in news papers and the world wide internet , yet the piece I have is twice the size and more robust , and was excavated amongst Human - Horse - wolf - Bos Longifrons - Dogs - wild boar - Goats - all very close. I.E all within 20 metres  of the outcrop of the Cleveland Dyke !!!  Which is is the very same unexcavated Basalt used at Stone Henge  !
Britains largest prehistoric red deer antler antler excavated in Middlesbrough in ancient Cleveland !

Basaltic Andesite -Worked Whinstone

I recently excavated this piece of whinstone from the Stainsby deposits along with more animal bones , the piece has clearly been smoothed around its sides , ie you do not find rounded smooth whinstone in this type of deposit !

Bos Longifrons Skull and Mandible

I've been very busy lately , but managed to visit the Stainsby deposits after recent flooding , I found these from what ime certain is the same Bos longifrons recently washed from the grey clay deposits, and a direct descendent to the huge Aurochs .    I have excavated many of these skulls all in excellent condition !

Ninth Legion's defeat in ancient Cleveland

THE NINTH LEGION 'S REAL DEFEAT !

Why would the ninth Legion march past an unconquered part of Britain less than 50 miles to the north of there base in York, ie the never conquered Tees basin or Cleveland hills, to fight scots behind a well defended wall ?  This area of North east England was never conquered by Rome yet we are to believe there greatest legion marched passed it and its people to be destroyed in what is now Scotland .

There can be no other explanation other than a roman defeat, that stopped them utilising the Cleveland hills and Tees inlet as a Roman strong hold ! There is no evidence of Rome gaining any type of a hold on the area we now know as Cleveland  , to any military strategist this would point to only one thing a fear by the Romans to attempt to attack the area !

I have found no evidence of actual Roman occupation in the ancient area of Cleveland, there have been a few isolated villas found but these were of so called Romano British origin, again no evidence of any Roman military occupation, ie the skills to build these villas would be readily available at the time of the partial occupation of Britain. everything in this area regarding the Romans points towards a Roman defeat or reluctance to tackle the occupiers in direct confrontation .

As ive stated before my blog is just a note of my finds and thoughts, since i wrote this ive found reason to believe the Angles occupied the Cleveland area before Rome arrived and controlled it before turning on the romans and probably had a hand in the loss of the ninth legion that left Eborcum never arriving in the large camp at  Piercbridge on the Tees, the Roman propaganda writers certainly never mentioned our area ! I wonder why ?

The boundary as I see it , i.e. the Romans appear
to have stopped here ! with this view of ancient
Cleveland in front of them !

The only reference I can find of Roman activity on the banks of the river Tees is at

Piercebridge Roman Fort - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This  location is to the west of Cleveland , again to me this points to the Romans avoiding the area we now know as Cleveland , also there is no references I can find of Roman writings about the area .

These three maps seem again to point to an avoidance of what would be a very important strategic location to any army

Note the total lack of Roman road building and activity in Ancient Cleveland ?
Middlesbrough on the map below is now the centre of the area I talk refer to.Middesbrough is the modern City now in the centre of the area I refer to.

For those unfamiliar with Cleveland, the large conurbation of Teesside with Middlesbrough as its centre now covers a lot of the area .

The area of what is now ancient Cleveland, is said to have been part of the Roman stated  Brigantes ruled area of northern Britain , yet I've never came across any evidence for this , the closest known  Roman reference is a Brigantes fort at  Stanwick St John close to what is now Darlington so given the total lack of Roman place names, settlements , military posts,  in what is now Cleveland, I believe they never had any influence on the occupiers of this area throughout the Roman occupation of other areas of North east England and as all historians know of the Brigantes was written by Romans , I find it hard to believe an area like Cleveland would have just been overlooked and left with no Roman reference I can find !  so this leads me to believe they did not want a record of the area or what might of occurred there !

A rising of the Brigantes has often been posited as the explanation for the disappearance of the Ninth Legion, stationed at York  is it just coincidence that York lays just to the south of the Cleveland hills, and Tees basin, that was never conquered or wrote about by Rome ! ?

. According to the eminent 19th-century German classicist Theodor Mommsen, "under Hadrian there was a terrible catastrophe here, apparently an attack on the fortress of Eboracum [York] and the annihilation of the legion stationed there, the very same Ninth that had fought so unluckily in the Boudican revolt."[11] He suggested that a revolt of the Brigantes soon after 108 was the most likely explanation.
The above all supports my theory that Rome never conquered the area we now know as Cleveland , and in all probability the area was a Briton strong hold. Another possibility is that Angles controlled the area, before and after Rome's arrival, the Angles as so called mercenaries of Rome controlled the North East of England and Scotland, their platform and landing ground could well of been Cleveland and its inlets and high ground.

Reports regarding records of the Legion being in Holland after there disappearance in Britain seem light weight ie no sign of a Legion just the fragments of one that you would expect after such a defeat.

Cleveland North East England's real superficial Geology

The Geological survey still amazingly have the area I have investigated with little help for nine years recorded as the boulder clay , recorded by a man who never actually excavated a square foot of the area In question . I have recorded in this very blog that Agar was wrong, and the south west area of Cleveland has no surface deposits that relate to boulder clay or direct glacial activity.

In fact all of the excavated evidence points towards an area covered by alluvium and related gravel bed and clay and silt deposits containing well preserved fossils and sub fossils both animal and human , I have gone into some detail in previous posts trying to explain my theories regarding what could have caused the true geology of the south west area of Cleveland , as well as reporting to the relevant local professional groups .

Yet students are still told to work on incorrect information regarding the Geology of this area !

Cleveland and the Romans

The Romans did briefly visit Cleveland but were unable to occupy the area for any length of time, ie there are remnants of Roman occupation but only sporadic, and there is no evidence of the river Tees being used by Roman soldiers or merchants .
The Tees bay and Eston hills would of been an ideal place for a Roman Garrison and more !. The only possible reason for this occupation not taking place is they were not permitted, ie organised resistance ! We are lead to believe the Brigantes were the major power in the area at the time of the Roman occupation, a tribe that was said to have been pro Roman . This to me does not add up, if this was right the tees would have been utilised as would the escarpment of the Eston  hills !

Cleveland's newly descovered prehistoric past

I now believe I have discovered an unknown part of Cleveland's prehistoric past, that I believe I can prove as important to historians etc. than any of the other prehistoric sites in northern Europe.  I believe the deep beck valleys that all run north to north west from the North Yorkshire moors, were the result of a massive flood event that came from the Esk valley after the last major cold stage.

I believe the Esk valley was dammed by ice at its north west limit, but the low lying areas were long ice free, and re populated, by both Humans and animals, I believe the ice dam eventually collapsed letting huge amounts of water loose to cause devastation on newly populated areas of the south west of Cleveland.  This would explain the true Geology and remains i have found in the said area .
