Very interesting crystals Heath! Can you get an even closer photo of them? Did you find any more?

Hello mate, I've found a lot of the casts but this was the first that I noticed the crystals also the others were from the stoneless clay this one came from a thin gravel seem in the clay , ile try get some better pics of the crystals the best way to describe the long thin ones is needle like ?
DeleteThe needle like long thin ones are best described as prismatic crystals. The crystal point shown at bottom right of pic 8 is I think a little too "sharp" to be quartz, i.e the angle of the point looks wrong. I'd love to see a close up mate,

Thanks for the info mate and ile try post some more detailed pics in the next half hour.
ReplyDeleteRog these pics are very detailed at my end yet the blog pics are not so good the second image is probably the best, ive sent you some more via e- mail
ReplyDeleteHi Heath,
ReplyDeleteExcellent pics. Not quartz, I think they're aragonite crystals. Aragonite has the same chemical composition as calcite, but with a different crystal lattice. With your permission, I'll post a few of your pics on Mindat for verification.
Cheers,
Rog
