Hello mate, I've found a lot of the casts but this was the first that I noticed the crystals also the others were from the stoneless clay this one came from a thin gravel seem in the clay , ile try get some better pics of the crystals the best way to describe the long thin ones is needle like ?
The needle like long thin ones are best described as prismatic crystals. The crystal point shown at bottom right of pic 8 is I think a little too "sharp" to be quartz, i.e the angle of the point looks wrong. I'd love to see a close up mate, Rog
Hi Heath, Excellent pics. Not quartz, I think they're aragonite crystals. Aragonite has the same chemical composition as calcite, but with a different crystal lattice. With your permission, I'll post a few of your pics on Mindat for verification. Cheers, Rog
Go for it mate I just have big problems trying to downsize so I don't bother anymore , ile keep an eye on the forum cheers for having a look mate ps did ya get my e- mails ?
Please feel free to correct me on any part of my blog, i would also welcome any help that can be offered in correctly identifying some of my fossil finds All the best to all Heath.
Very interesting crystals Heath! Can you get an even closer photo of them? Did you find any more?
